Match finding and team matching in the Sol26 Sport ERP player app

Players challenging for the ball in an amateur football match

Team profiles, team search filters, deposit-backed matches and match chat are designed to let players find opponents and book pitches in the same app.

Amateur players often face one of two situations: they have a pitch but no opponents, or they have a team but are short of a player in one position. Finding opponents happens across scattered group chats, and by the time two teams agree, the right slot may already be gone.

Sol26 Sport ERP is designed to bring match finding, team matching and pitch booking into one app. This post describes how these features work and what they mean for venue owners.

Player and team profiles

Players set up a personal profile, choose from football, badminton, tennis, billiards, basketball and volleyball, and declare a playing position such as forward or defender. The profile also covers a short introduction, skill level, playing area and playing times.

A team profile shows matches played, average age, skill level, the member list, usual pitch type, area and playing times. The member screen includes actions to transfer ownership, make someone captain and remove them from the team.

Playing area and playing times

Players set a playing area with a travel range, for example 5 km. Playing times are entered on an hourly grid for each day from Monday to Sunday.

The app includes a map that switches between clubs, matches and members nearby. Players use it to see which teams and matches are active in their area.

Finding a team and finding members

Players without a team use the team search screen with detailed filters. Teams that are short of players use the member search screen, where each listing shows current members, missing positions, skill level, area, match type and playing times.

  • Team skill level and number of members
  • Average age: under 16, 16 to 25, 25 to 35, over 35
  • Positions the team needs
  • Playing area and match type
  • Days of the week and time of day

Players can also see team invitations sent to them and a list of suggested teams. Team owners and players can view each other's profiles before deciding.

Finding matches, posting requests and creating matches

The find match tab filters by location and time first, then by pitch type, distance and skill level. If no suitable match exists, players post their own request in the app.

To create a match, a player must book a pitch and pay a 30% deposit. The match host then invites friends and an opposing team and can swap teams. The match screen shows both team lists, ready or declined status, a countdown to match lock and a leave match button.

Match chat and community

Each match has its own chat, limited to text and stickers. It runs from the moment the match is booked until 24 hours after it ends, which is enough for both teams to agree times, change players and talk after the game.

Beyond match chat, players have a community area to post, comment, share links to posts, add friends and chat privately. Private messages are deleted after a period of time, and paid accounts keep chat history for longer.

What it means for venue owners

For venue owners, match finding is designed to turn players' search for opponents into deposit-backed bookings, because a match can only be created once a pitch is booked. These bookings feed directly into the status flow in the venue owner app.

Players also leave venue reviews with the reviewer's name, star rating, date and comments. Reviews appear on the venue information screen for other players to consult when choosing a venue.
